Mom & Baby Yoga

A chance for mom to return to a yoga practice or learn how to start one. This is a beautiful time to connect with your baby and build a community of new mothers. Practice postures, movements, meditations and breath-work to help strengthen, open and restore the body, mind and spirit. Poses and movements for baby are incorporated into the practice as well. Ideal for moms and babies 6 weeks old to crawling.

Previous yoga experience is not necessary to fully benefit from the classes, and women who have practiced yoga before will find these classes are a great way to transition back to their pre-pregnancy practice. Suitable for new moms with 6 week old babies to crawling.

Yoga Basics for Absolute Beginners

Learn the fundamentals of basic asanas (postures) and breathing . Essential for growing your yoga practice from the ground up!

Yoga of the Heart: A gentle practice for those dealing with health issues

This gentle practice is appropriate for those who suffering from high blood pressure heart disease and cancer and/or who are at least 8 weeks post surgical. It is a practice that has been used in Wellness Centres around North America and through evidence based research it has been shown to help increase strength and mobility, address issues  and help trigger the parasympathetic response in the body( the cooling calming response). This class includes breathwork , gentle asana (physical poses) and Yoga Nidra (deep relaxation). 

Previous yoga experience is not necessary to fully benefit from the classes.

Friday September 26:Building from the Base

BKS Iyengar refers to the base of the pose as the "brain" of the pose. In this workshop we will explore how to create stable, grounded foundations for all catagories of asana, embodying the quality known as "sthira".

Friday October 31: Ease and Openess

From the work with the earth one can then create space in the body, elongating and awakening the spine, as well as facilitating openness in the inner body. This workshop will be an opportunity to explore the quality of ease- "sukha".

Friday November 28: Presence and Wakefulness

Asana practice is our opportunity to be present and awake, creating a still center around which all other phenomena can ebb and flow. In this workshop we will look at how to use the beath to find the still point in more challenging and difficult asana.

Friday December 12: Unrestraining the Prana

Pranayama is the practice of restraining the breath, yet can also be understood as a way to unrestrain the vital energy in our bodies, creating conscious connections and a deep state of restfulness. In this workshop we will practice restorative asanas and various pranayama techniques.
